On the Cover: (see article, p. 34) — The 78 foot midget submarine looking forward from the stern. The submarine is in very good condition. It sits upright on a sandy bottom. Overlapping photo: This photo shows the propellers and propeller guard, part of which is broken off, perhaps from impact on the bottom. The rudder appears to be turned slightly starboard. The propeller syslem was designed to drive the submarine at up to twenty knots submerged and also to avoid fouling in submarine nets.
