The specific goals of the research are to quantify and elucidate the mechanisms driving (1) interannual variability in the air-sea fluxes of oxygen and carbon dioxide and (2) the annual cycles of calcium carbonate production and dissolution. The research will utilize a combination of ocean circulation models and tracer observations and involve collaboration with investigators at several institutions. The ideal candidate for the position would have a solid foundation in oceanography combined with experience in data analysis, numerical modeling, and inverse techniques.
